Let me introduce myself...
My name is Stacy Schepel. I am the Social Worker at Luverne, and am responsible for grades preK-12. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with the MN Board of Social Work, and the SD Board of SW. I am also a Registered Play Therapist, and have received intensive training in Dialetical Behavioral Therapy. I hold a Masters Degree from the University of St. Thomas. I have spent my entire career working with young people and their caregiver(s) in a variety of settings throughout the area. I am also an adjunct facility at the School of Social Work at Presentation College, the University of Sioux Falls and the University of South Dakota.
My work at the school gives me the opportunity to help our students learn and grow in a safe, caring and structured educational environment. I provide integrated interventions to support students, their families and school staff by designing situations for success. I create situations to help model appropriate behaviors, problem-solving skills and academic growth for students. I facilitate the development and overall unique potential of each student, while collaborating with teachers to help foster healthy and participating members of our community now and in the future.
Getting to know and building a relationship with each student changes how they perform. Students, like most of us, are looking for a place to feel connected. When students feel personally connected and feel like they count most young people change their behavior and make positive choices that benefit one and all.
Providing a welcoming environment for students is critical. We have established a tradition of excellence and achievement, and together staff and students share well-connected relationships.
I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to work with you and your students and it is my pleasure to work in this space.
You can feel free to contact me by email ([email protected]) OR phone (507-283-4491) at ANY time.
